« Ma présence ici est tout à fait normale, car je pense qu’on ne peut pas parler de basketball au Sénégal sans notre implication. Je viens de Kebemer, une localité de ce pays où l’on ne pensait pas trouver de joueurs de basketball », commence Gorgui Sy Dieng.
« Si je suis ici, c’est parce que l’État du Sénégal et la fédération ont travaillé pour découvrir des talents partout dans le pays. Je suis ici en tant que joueur, capitaine et président de club. Ma présence ici est un soutien à la Fédération et au basketball pour démontrer l’intérêt que le président porte au basketball. Si nous sommes ici, c’est parce que nous lui devons cela, chacun d’entre nous, de notre plein gré », a déclaré Gorgui Dieng, qui témoigne une fois de plus son soutien au président sortant.
